Know Active Ingredients in Cannabis

Intoxicating Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids that bind to and activate the CB1 receptors in the body to produce a euphoric feeling, or “high,” that can lead to impairment are considered intoxicating.

The most common intoxicating cannabinoid and the best researched is THC

Non-Intoxicating Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids that do not cause impairment, such as CBD, are considered non-intoxicating. While they do bind to CB2 receptors in the body, they don’t alter judgment, behaviour or the ability to think clearly.

Non-intoxicating cannabinoids offer more subtle effects that won’t lead to intoxication (unless combined with other intoxicating cannabinoids)

What is THC and CBD?

Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the compound in cannabis that’s primarily responsible for its intoxicating, psychoactive effects. Discover how THC works, potential effects, tips for selecting products and more.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a common compound of cannabis that’s typically not intoxicating — but can affect the mind and body. Discover how CBD works, potential effects, ways to select products and more.

What Are Terpenes in Cannabis?

Found in many plants, fruits and flowers, terpenes give cannabis cultivars their unique aromas and flavours. Terpenes are fragrant oils found in many types of plants. Terpenes are responsible for the smell, taste and colour of plants. They’re also one of the largest groups of plant-released volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Consumers often choose cannabis products by considering THC and CBD potency, as well as the species (indica, sativa or hybrid). Terpene content is another factor to consider: We all have individual preferences for smells and tastes, so knowing the dominant terpenes in a product — often referred to as its terpene profile — can help you choose one with a scent and flavour you’d most likely prefer.

What is Vaping?

Vapes and Vaping

Known by many names — e-cigarette, e-cig, vape pen and more — a vape is the device used for vaping.

Vaping is a smoke-free method of consuming the cannabinoids in cannabis, such as THC, CBD and other minor cannabinoids. Simply put, vaping is the act of heating a cannabis concentrate and inhaling the vapour that’s produced.

Although vape devices produce little visible vapour compared to combusting dried flower, they can’t be used in places where smoking is prohibited.

Vaping is sometimes confused with vaporizing : Among other differences, a vaporizer is meant to be used with dried flower and concentrates, such as kief, hash and shatter.

Note that here we’re talking about vaping cannabis products, not nicotine — We do not sell nicotine products.

Type of Vaping Devices

  • Disposable vape pens

“all-in-one” vapes, these devices come pre-filled. What makes disposable vape pens unique is that the tank is housed permanently within the device, making all of its parts disposable — both the pre-filled tank and the battery.

510-thread cartridges

These pre-filled tanks are sold separately from the battery component and feature a 510 screw threading that makes them universally compatible with a large variety of batteries.

Cannabis Concentrates

What are Cannabis Concentrates?

Cannabis concentrates — solid or liquid products that are produced by processing cannabis flower into a concentrated form, to be either ingested or inhaled — are available for sale at Mystic’s Cannabis.

Concentrates are produced when cannabis flower is processed into a concentrated form. These products can come in liquid or solid form, such as hash, rosin, shatter, wax, kief and are either ingested or inhaled.

The main difference between concentrates and other forms of cannabis is in their potential to contain much higher concentrations of cannabinoids than the raw plant.
